My Review of a Hydrafacial.

January 19, 2018
I don’t really remember how I first heard of a hydrafacial, but it kept appearing to me like kismet – on Instagram, during random podcasts and on blogs I was reading – so often so that I felt I HAD to get one done, like it was a bucket list item in life right next to visiting Greece. I started thinking about it all the time, watching videos on it, and stalking before and afters to the point that I made a promise to myself to make an appointment in the new year. Which brings us to today when I finally stopped planning for it and actually did it. Just for some background I literally never do anyyyything to my skin, I don’t get facials or botox (like pretty much everyone I know). At home my routine is almost non existent as nothing I have tried really proves its worth to me and I believe more strongly in just drinking water and eating healthy to keep my face looking good. I can barely remember to wear sunscreen to be honest. But as I turned 35 this year I have started thinking I should probably add something to my routine, so why not the hydrafacial? I just hope after all this buildup it is as magnificent as I imagined it in my head and I walk out looking like a supermodel. So WTH is a Hydrafacial? Hydrafacial is a patented machine that cleanses, exfoliates and extracts by switching out the heads on the tool. It helps everything from fine lines and wrinkles, to texture, tone and enlarged pores by getting rid of impurities and dead skin cells while at the same time quenching skin with vital nutrients like antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid. You can read more about it on their website at: hydrafacial.com.

Watch It Work

So after knowing what it was I wanted I had to figure out where to get it done. In Boca we have a lot of med spas so it can be hard to choose and know the best one to go to. I came across Peace Love Med Spa in Boca on Instagram and they got me hooked on the idea of a hydrafacial with them by watching their videos. Their social media marketing is bomb. The hydrafacial costs $149 and they recommend getting one once a month if possible. When I showed up I filled out some paperwork and then they took me to a private room where I removed my makeup and we got started. The technician explained everything as she was doing it and it took about 20 minutes total. First she exfoliates, then extracts, then they put a light chemical peel on and a toner. It doesn’t hurt, it is more like a light suction at times and then you have glowing skin afterwards. When I got home my husband said he can tell a difference but can’t put his finger on what it is. I consider this a success! I didn’t wash my face until this morning so all the good stuff could soak in overnight. Not sure if you are supposed to do that but it made sense to me.

Look at all the junk that came out of my skin – so nasty, but I love seeing all the gross stuff. If I wasn’t in advertising I think I might be an aesthetician, but that’s a whole other post. So, do I think a hydrafacial is worth it and would I do it again? Yes and yes. My skin is literally glowing, my pores are totally cleaned out and it was efficient AF. I love anything that actually works and shows results right away because I feel like so few things for your skin do. Have you hydrafacialed? Do you swear by it?
