Plantbased in Australia.

March 29, 2023

We just returned from our trip to the Gold Coast of Australia and I wanted to do a little blog recap. It is so easy to eat plantbased there, even the gas stations have vegan options and plantbased milks – I could definitely live there if it wasn’t so far away.

What I Packed: It is very casual there so you don’t need heels or anything fancy. I brought mainly bikinis, wrap skirts to go over bikinis, bodysuits and beach dresses. My new favorite bikini shown in the photo was an Amazon find for just $25! Shop It Amazon Bikini

What I Ate: We fell in love with a nearby coffee spot called Love Street Cafe and walked to get our coffee every morning (flat whites with oat milk), along with trying out their green smoothie bowl, avocado toast and Acai. My favorite Acai of the entire trip was at Ground Coolangatta – I ate it at least four days, and my order is the standard Acai with gluten free granola. We also made a few grocery trips to pick up fresh fruit, avocados and sourdough bread, date balls and salad stuff so we didn’t eat out for every meal. Here are some other spots we liked:

Social Brew | Ra Ra Ramen | Rama 5 Thai (best curry) | Siblings for cocktails | Happy Snapper (good fish & chips) | The Collective Palm Beach (you can order from 5 different restaurants in one place)

In-flight tips: You can schedule your meals ahead of time with the airlines online when the flight is long enough to serve a meal. I choose the vegan/vegetarian options and was very pleased with the meals given on American / Qantas – they give fresh fruit, bean based dinners, coco yogurt and soy milk. I stick to water when flying, skip any alcohol or sodas and try to stay hydrated especially on the longest leg of the flight which is 14 hours.

Where We Stayed: We stayed in the Kirra / Coolangatta area at the Iconic Kirra which is a condo building right across from the beach and it is very affordable per night. They have a gym, pool and the view from the balcony in the room is gorgeous.
